An annual triangle, offshore sailing regatta helps bridge the gap between American and Cuban people. The ocean is the greatest road there is and this year’s fleet used it to experience Cuba, which is trapped in time, but on the verge of great change.

The Conch Republic Cup was a regatta adventure from Key West, Florida to Veradero to Havana and back to Key West. It was truly a cultural exchange through sport that shows that sailing can help bind these two countries back together.

We’ve assembled just a few bits and pieces from all the footage taken May 16th thru May 19th during the Havana Challenge event from Key West Florida to Havana Cuba. this is the first fully licensed sailing event between these two neighboring cities in over 50 years. What you see here is just a sample of the collectable DVD that is currently in the works.

The 1973-74 Whitbread Film Remastered – Volvo Ocean Race

A brand new digitally restored version of the official film for the 1973-74 Whitbread Round the World Race. The official film from the first Whitbread had previously only been available in low resolution, and in an inferior quality transfer from the original film reels. Now for the first time we’re able to share the 40-year-old images in high definition.

40 Years of the Volvo Ocean Race

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Volvo Ocean Race, we’ve created a short film about the spirit and the people behind sport’s ultimate test of character.

Since its beginnings as the Whitbread in 1973 to the present day, the Volvo Ocean Race has been about passion, courage and pride. We’ve had 40 years of highs, lows, pushing a little harder and reaching a little higher.

Here’s to the next 40,000 miles and the next 40 years.

Shipyard Cup 2012


The 10th running of the Shipyard Cup Regatta showed real Maine weather for the competitors. Drifting around in the fog at one point before the start of day two someone said it was starting to rain. I replied “That’s just the HEAVY fog.”
