Havana Challenge Wrap Up

We’ve assembled just a few bits and pieces from all the footage taken May 16th thru May 19th during the Havana Challenge event from Key West Florida to Havana Cuba. this is the first fully licensed sailing event between these two neighboring cities in over 50 years. What you see here is just a sample of the collectable DVD that is currently in the works.

So the press boat, a 37′ Yellow Fin named “After Fish” was having a good time in Havana so I decided to put this little video together to the music playing on board.

Five Hobie 16s are poised on the beach in Key West and ready to cross the gulf stream to Havana. The Havana Challenge will begin when the conch shell blows at 0730 on Saturday, May 16th at the South Beach Cafe.

Nacra 17 Nationals/49er and FX North Americans Day 2

A great day of sailing in Oyster Bay. The wind shifted about 55deg. and the race committee did a fantastic job of keeping up with it and making the racing fair for everyone.
I got a little ahead of score corrections at the time of rendering the video so the corrections are below.

Nacra 17 Nationals and 49er/FX North Americans at Oakliff Sailing

The first day of racing for the Olympic class skiffs. Great wind conditions prevailed throughout most of the day showing very competitive starts and a few close finishes. The Nacra 17 class is still a close race with USA’s Newburry/Casey just edging out the top position after day 1 closely followed by the Canadian and Puerto Rican teams with Taylor Reiss / Catherine Shanahan bringing up 4th place all within 4 points.
